What is my story?
I grew up in a Wiltshire village with career ambitions to drive lorries, cut grass at Salisbury Cathedral, be a policeman and play football at Wembley. After ignoring all of these, I picked up life skills as a farmer, builder, nurse and Bristol student, before heading to London to start my media career at the BBC. It took me 5 years to realise life was too short not to follow your passions and after work experience at Wimbledon, I discovered I could be paid watching and writing about sport. Later it would be more newsy. In summary, since 1999, I've accepted money in exchange for meeting people (not all of them famous) and telling their stories.
After 25 years as a journalist and editor at the BBC, Sky and as a freelancer, I’ve unleashed my shackles and begun a business creating legacy books. Losing people very, very close to me has made me realise we need to record stories and celebrate lives before it's too late. Sadness has fired up my creativity, passion and business ambition. My mission burns deep.
Telling stories means people aren't forgotten and lives can be celebrated and remembered.
